Throughout the south, there is great optimism. Homes.com reported that Atlanta was among the top five cities in the country for new home searches, and both residential and commercial construction is on the upswing.  In a move that has the Atlanta commercial real estate market buzzing, Baxter International recently announced its plans for a one billion dollar biopharmaceutical manufacturing plant which will be located in Covington, Georgia, just south of Atlanta. The plant is expected to create over 1,500 new full time positions in the region, which is sure to have a trickle-down effect in the surrounding area. In other positive news for the region, MetLife recently announced that they have made plants to purchase the Reynolds Plantation, a renowned golf resort located an hour outside of Atlanta. MetLife has a twenty five year history of investing in the Atlanta real estate market, and their current holdings include a multi-development project at 12th and Midtown, the Rocca 400 apartment complex, the Georgia Pacific Center, and the Georgia 400 center. Their continued involvement with the Reynolds project is another strong indication that the future of Atlanta’s growth is seen as very promising.

 

While EMR systems have been in existence for over 30 years, it was only in the last decade that its use has been highly encouraged by the healthcare industry. The tallest tower in Tel Aviv is the Azrieli Center Circular Tower (named such because it is the center circular tower of the three towers making up Azrieli center).  The second-tallest structure in all of Israel, it is 187 meters (614 feet) tall and was built just over a decade ago, in 1999.  The top of the tower boasts an observation deck from which one can gaze out over the whole of the city, and every floor has a staggering 84 windows– more than 4,000 windows in all.  In 2003 there was a competition to see who could run up the 1,144 stairs to the Circular Tower’s roof the fastest.  The prize: being able to compete in a similar competition within the Empire State Building of New York.

The second tallest tower is the Azrieli Center Triangular Tower, part of the same complex, which reaches 169 meters into the air.  The third tallest is free-standing and known as the Electra Tower, or Elco International Tower.  It was originally planned to be the tallest building in Tel Aviv, but construction has been somewhat delayed.  It is an office complex, and five of its floors are currently rented to Google Israel.

The tallest residential complex in Tel Aviv is called the W Tower, coming in at 156.4 meters (the fifth-tallest building in the city).  It is home to several prominent military officers and civilian leaders, including Moshe Kaplinsky and Meir Dagan.

In addition to all of these extant structures, there are dozens in the planning or consideration stages, including the tremendous (and just approved) Egged Tower.  This monster, if completed according to its original design, would stand 320 meters (over a thousand feet) tall, just under twice the height of Tel Aviv’s current leading contender.
